Ontario Heat Pump Rebates Available in 2026
The Home Renovation Savings Program (HRS), delivered by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy with support from the Ontario Government, is the primary active rebate program for heat pump installations in Ontario as of 2026. The Canada Greener Homes Grant closed to new applicants on January 20, 2026, and is not available for new installations.
HRS rebate amounts depend on your current heating fuel and the system’s rated heating capacity at 8.3°C (47°F):
- Electrically heated homes (baseboard, electric furnace, oil, or propane) qualify for up to $7,500 for a qualifying whole-home electric heat pump system
- Natural gas-heated homes qualify for rebates calculated at $500 per ton of rated capacity; most Ontario homes require 2–3 tons, placing typical amounts between $1,000 and $1,500
- No pre-installation home energy assessment is required, making the application process faster than earlier programs
- Rental or lease-to-own equipment does not qualify for the rebate
We hold the contractor certifications required to submit pre-installation and post-installation rebate documentation on your behalf, including equipment AHRI numbers and the NRCan sizing form.
