Ac Installation Replacement

Air Conditioning Installation & Replacement in Ajax

The Marx Mechanical Heating and Cooling Promise Balances Cost, Efficiency & Reliability

A successful installation starts with equipment that matches your home, not simply a new unit in the same size as the old one. At Marx Mechanical Heating and Cooling, we assess each Ajax home and follow a defined process so homeowners can make informed decisions about central cooling.

Our family-owned and family-operated company brings more than 20 years of collective heating and cooling experience to every project. Our licensed team has serviced more than 7,000 units, and we list a 4.9 Google rating.

We install and replace air conditioning systems throughout Ajax as part of the Greater Durham and York Regions we serve. Every recommendation follows The Marx Mechanical Heating and Cooling Promise.

How We Install Your New Air Conditioner

Once the equipment and project scope are confirmed, we follow a clear sequence from removal through final testing. The exact work depends on whether we’re replacing an existing system or installing one that requires ductwork modifications.

A typical replacement includes these stages:

Old-Unit Removal: We disconnect, remove, and dispose of the existing air conditioner when replacement is required.
Indoor Unit Connection: We position the indoor unit and connect it to the home’s ductwork and electrical components.
Outdoor Condenser Placement: We position the outdoor condenser on a level pad.
Refrigerant Line Preparation: We install and evacuate the refrigerant lines before charging the system.
Testing & Airflow Balancing: We test the completed system and balance airflow throughout the home.

A straightforward replacement using compatible infrastructure typically takes four to eight hours. A new cooling installation involving ductwork modifications generally takes one to three days. The home’s existing equipment and the required scope determine where a project falls within those timeframes.

Air Conditioner Sizing for Ajax Homes

We recommend a professional cooling load calculation before selecting new equipment. This calculation measures how much cooling a home requires under expected conditions, providing a technical basis for sizing. It accounts for the home’s size and thermal performance, including its insulation and windows, in the local climate.

We work with Daikin, York, Lennox, and Mitsubishi Electric equipment. Our manufacturer credentials include recognition as a Daikin Comfort Pro Partner and York Certified Comfort Experts. Equipment selection depends on the calculated cooling demand and the type of system being installed.

For a broader view of potential efficiency improvements, professional home energy audits are available to Ajax homeowners. An audit examines the home as a complete system before equipment and renovation decisions are made.

Cold-Climate Heat Pump Rebates

Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program offers rebates to eligible homeowners installing qualifying cold-climate air-source heat pumps. These incentives apply to eligible heat pump upgrades, not standard central air conditioner replacements.

Rebate levels depend on the home’s existing heating source:

Enbridge Natural Gas: Eligible homes can receive $500 per ton, up to $2,000.
Electricity, Oil, Propane, or Wood: Eligible homes can receive up to $7,500.

To qualify, the heat pump must appear on Natural Resources Canada’s qualified product list and be installed by a participating HVAC contractor. Program availability, incentive amounts, equipment eligibility, and household eligibility can change, so homeowners should confirm current requirements before proceeding.

What Shapes Your Air Conditioning Installation Estimate?

The cost of air conditioning replacement in Ajax depends on the equipment selected and the work required in the home. An assessment identifies those project-specific requirements before we prepare an estimate.

Important estimate factors include:

The selected central air conditioning system
The cooling capacity required for the home
The condition and compatibility of existing ductwork
The project’s electrical requirements
The overall installation scope

A replacement that uses compatible existing infrastructure generally requires less work than a project involving ductwork modifications. Because these conditions vary by property, an assessment is more useful than an unverified general price range.

When to Consider Air Conditioner Replacement

We recommend evaluating a system for replacement when it’s roughly 10 to 15 years old. Age isn’t the only consideration. Performance, repair history, energy use, and refrigerant type should also inform the decision.

Signs that an aging system merits an assessment include:

Frequent breakdowns or repeated repair needs
Weak or inconsistent airflow between rooms
Rising energy bills during cooling season
Strange noises or odours during operation
Continued use of outdated R-22 refrigerant

These signs don’t determine the right replacement choice on their own. We assess the existing system and the home’s cooling requirements before recommending equipment.
