Conventional boilers, also called regular or heat-only boilers, heat water that circulates through your home’s radiators, baseboard heaters, or radiant floor system. Unlike combi boilers, which heat water on demand without any storage, conventional boilers work alongside a separate hot water cylinder for domestic use. They also require a cold water storage tank and a feed-and-expansion tank, typically installed in a loft or utility space.

This setup suits larger homes with higher hot water demand, multiple bathrooms, or properties that already have an existing cylinder and tank arrangement. System boilers fall between the two: they use a hot water cylinder but don’t need a separate cold water feed tank.
